Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Biography

Dum Mast Qalandar Mast was Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's joint venture with experimental composer Michael Brook that brought recognition to qawwali on the international stage. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has also worked with other western personalities including Peter Gabriel and Peal Jam's vocalist Eddie Vedder. His music has been used in foreign movies such as The Last Temptation Of Christ, “Natural Born Killers, Dead Man Walking and Indian film Bandit Queen. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan did not forget his Pakistani roots despite his international fame. His personality always had a pure, spiritual and inspiring element. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died in 1998, passing on his legacy to followers from the younger generation which predominantly includes Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is remembered all over the world as the “ShehenShan-e-Qawwali.”
