Before entering into politics, Imran Khan was recognized as the best all-rounder in Pakistan and eventually the best all-rounder in the world of cricket. At the peak of his career he was the fastest bowler in the world. He was born on 25 November 1952 in Lahore, Pakistan. Cricketer Imran Khan was made captain of the Pakistan team in 1982 and led the Pakistani cricket team under his captaincy to victory over every other cricketing country in the world. Imran Khan always saw great potential in Wasim Akram and correctly predicted that Wasim Akram will become a great all-rounder.
Imran Khan married Jemima Goldsmith, daughter of the late multi millionaire, Sir James Goldsmith in 1995. Jemima accepted Islam after which she changed her name to Haiqa. From the start, many people thought that the marriage was a mistake and after having two sons named Suleiman and Kasim the couple eventually divorced. Outside the cricket field Imran Khan has participated passionately in social work and politics. He built the Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital and created his own political party, Tehreek-E-Insaaf. Imran Khan is a great humanitarian as well an acclaimed sportsman who continues to build towards a better future for Pakistan.
